EMC's Iomega on Tuesday will roll out a new network storage array designed to target small and medium sized business designed to hit the key $5,000 price point for 4TB.
According to Iomega, rackmount StorCenter ix12-300r supports workgroups, departments and distributed offices without IT staff. The latest StorCenter supports up to 250 users and can expand to 24TB in a 2 rack unit.
Among the key features:
Jeff Graham, regional product manager for NAS product line, said being certified for multiple virtualization platforms will be a differentiator. As for competition, Graham expects the latest StorCenter to compete with NetApp at the low end and rivals like NetGear and LaCie. CDW will be the exclusive channel partner May 10 and starting in June other retailers will be added. The 4TB model starts at $4,999.99.
