Ericsson brings Emap into the wireless world

A partnership with Ericsson, announced Tuesday, will see the entire content of EMAP Online's publications made available over a WAP enabled mobile phone
Written by Justin Pearse, Contributor

The service is being rolled out over gradually, with Bargainholidays.com the first site to launch Tuesday.

Users accessing the WAP version of Bargainholidays will be able to get access to flight and holiday information, with a hotlink connecting to the company's call centre. The service can be personalised and users can sign up for alerts when profiled holidays become available.

Justin Chamberlain, head of corporate ventures for Ericsson, explains that the service will grow to embrace new technologies. "[In the future we will have] the ability to provide information to users based on their geographic location, using the mobile positioning system inherent in mobile infrastructure, creating an extremely powerful information service."

The next Emap Online services to be made available for WAP access will be Aloud.com, giving information and the option to purchase tickets for festivals and live events, and 1Ski.com, providing global ski reports.
