While US markets remain closed...

European markets were in recovery mode this morning, maintaining yesterday's gains despite US markets remaining closed for the third consecutive day. In London the FTSE was up 0.75 per cent and the Techmark rose 0.8 per cent by 10.20(BST). The gains were reflected across Europe, with the CAC 40 in Paris adding 0.6 per cent and Frankfurt's Dax rising 0.63 per cent. Among tech stocks Colt and Energis took a tumble with BT and Vodafone remaining flat. Investors remain cautious however as they wait for US markets to resume business. Afternoon trading could be affected by the European Central Bank's decision on interest rates, due later today, although a cut is not expected.
