Five years ago: Umax ships fastest ever Mac clone

Taiwanese vendor Umax has begun shipping its fastest ever MacOS system.

The 200MHz PowerPC 604e-based Pulsar Pro 200 ships with 512Kb L2 cache, 16Mb RAM (expandable to 1Gb), 2.1Gb SCSI hard drive, eight-speed CD-ROM drive, 16-bit audio, integral Ethernet and Local Talk, and 128-bit graphics with 2Mb VRAM for about £3,095 + VAT. Dual CPU versions are also available.
