FreeMarkets has created a new UK general manager role which will be filled internally. Shahriar Broumand, who will step in to the role, was formerly a senior market maker with the company after joining in 1999. The company claims the position has been created to handle the growth of e-sourcing demand in the UK. Despite turning in flat customer numbers for the last three quarters, Shane Tulloch, vice president and managing director of FreeMarkets Europe claims the "business is growing steadily". He told silicon.com the company is on target to hit Wall Street analysts' estimates for this quarter, which ends late July.
