Fujitsu ships 42-in flat-screen monitor
Fujitsu General has begun shipping the world's largest flat-screen colour monitor. The Plasmavision 42 is a 42-inch gas plasma screen that - with a depth of six inches - avoids the bulk of CRTs.
Aimed at environments where space is at a premium but a large viewing area required, the unit has a viewing angle of 160 degrees and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Also, Fujitsu claims the device can recognise computer and video inputs and intelligently switch resolutions accordingly.
Demonstrated today at ZDNet's offices, the Plasmavision 42 certainly looked a desirable piece of equipment but the price will give pause to all but the most committed purchaser. It costs £9,875 + VAT.
