Gateway joins 'legacy-free' parade

Gateway Inc. (NYSE: GTW) has joined the legacy-free PC parade with a new Profile PC. The company today announced the Profile 2, a follow-on to its all-in-one Profile PC, which drops traditional peripheral ports, such as PS/2, in favor of four Universal Serial Bus ports. The Profile 2 offers an integrated 15.1-inch flat panel display and a 433MHz Intel Corp. Celeron processor for a price starting at $1,799. A version with a DVD-ROM drive starts at $1,999. --John G.
