It sounds like Google is in the final stages of talks to acquire Like.com. The technology being eyed up by Google is visual search -- the remnants of a company that used to search for people by face called Riya.
Like TechCrunch says, the reasoning behind the acquisition isn't quite clear -- it doesn't really fit with the other recent acquisitions (in the social space) Google has made in the last few months.
If the deal goes through, $100 million will buy them a pretty powerful visual search engine, but Google's already been working on one of their own. If you have an Android device, you should be able to download Google Goggles -- a visual search engine created by Google.
