BMC Software said Tuesday it has joined Hadoop software and services company Hortonworks' technology partner program to integrate its Hadoop workflows for the enterprise.

The move gives the Hortonworks Hadoop distribution direct support access to BMC's Big Data management framework, Control-M for Hadoop.

The Control-M framework automates batch processing for large data sets and accelerates integration of Hadoop and other enterprise application workflows such as Pig, Scoop, Hive, and MapReduce, BMC said.

John Kreisa, vice president of strategic marketing for Hortonworks, said in a statement:

By committing to Apache Hadoop and integrating with the Hortonworks Data Platform, BMC is enabling organizations to create a modern data architecture. Our partnership with BMC further extends the Hadoop ecosystem and empowers customers with simplified batch processing for speedy deployments and enterprise-class data management, access, governance, integration, security, and operations to meet the complex requirements of their big data challenges.
