New structure to be unveiled...

HP and Compaq are set to release details of the proposed senior management structure of the merged entity next week, along with the impact on the rest of the companies' staff. HP was expected to cut 15,000 jobs worldwide after it merges, although it had warned employees that staffing details might not be revealed for some time. But in a memo sent to staff at both companies yesterday, HP boss Carly Fiorina and Compaq chief Michael Capellas said they would announce the selection process for filling posts in the newly merged company next week. Details of top level management appointments will also be announced. HP has already said Fiorina will continue as CEO and Capellas will become HP's president. The memo to staff follows Tuesday's statement in which HP said it plans to begin operations as a merged company within two months.
