HTC One SV aims to deliver 4G LTE to midrange buyers

HTC has unveiled a midrange 4G Android device that will be available in the UK in "the coming weeks".

The One SV, announced on Tuesday, will fit in with the company's One Series devices and will arrive with a 4.3-inch display, 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm S4 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB of onboard storage and support for expansion via microSD card.

The phone is listed as arriving with the Ice Cream Sandwich version of the Android operating system. The company had not confirmed whether it will be eligible for an upgrade to the newer Jelly Bean build of the platform at the time of writing.

EE, which rolled out the UK's first nationwide 4G network this year, is the only network confirmed to carry the device. However, the One SV also supports the 800MHz and 2.6GHz bands, which other operators will be using for their 4G services when they launch their network around the middle of next year - meaning that the handset should work on those networks too once they are live.

Similarly, while the pricing for the One SV hasn't yet been announced, HTC is pitching it as a midrange device, meaning it won't arrive with a top-of-the-range price tag.

Other features of the device include NFC capabilities, 5-megapixel camera with F2.0 aperture and 28mm lens, and a 1.6-megapixel forward facing camera for stills or video images.
