IBM and WizOffice.com to provide SME solutions
Singapore, 10 April 2000 - IBM and WizOffice.com, a Singapore-based business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce company, today announced a collaboration to deliver a one-stop suite of e-business solutions to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the Asia-Pacific region.
Both parties will collaborate to develop standardized e-business platforms using IBM hardware, software and services in WizOffice markets. With this latest tie-up, WizOffice will be able to offer a bundle of complementary hardware and software solutions, together with its own web-based services and applications.
Mr Raphael Tham, CEO of WizOffice said that the alliance combined the practical business solutions of solutions of WizOffice.com with the leadership and reliability of IBM.
"With 90,000 small and medium sized companies in Singapore, and more than 11 million in the Asia Pacific region where we are working to expand aggressively into this year, (Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Australia, Malaysia and Indonesia), there are a lot of companies we’d like to help.” added Mr Tham.
Both parties will also work together on joint marketing and promotional activities.
Another key area of collaboration is in the field of Linux research and development. As technology partners, WizOffice will have access to Linux technologies from eight IBM research laboratories worldwide.
“With its open source code and reputation for stability, Linux is increasingly becoming the operating system of choice for industry-grade applications and mission-critical operations,” commented Mr Tham.
