Moxon replaces Katrina Troughton, who had left IBM's New Zealand operations in February to head up its WebSphere division, based in Shanghai.
The new MD has been with IBM since 1983 and has held several senior positions, including New Zealand government manager, and client director for IBM's telecommunications business in Australia.
Moxon will officially take up the new role on 1 April 2009, and will lead IBM's 1,000-strong workforce in the country.
"I am very excited about the opportunity to lead our business in New Zealand at a time when IBM is articulating a compelling vision for the future and when the current economic environment provides an opportunity for forward-thinking companies to move ahead of the competition," said Moxon in a statement.
