Retail stores and brands are offering bargain basement prices this year, and cameras are no exception.

Canon is pitching rebates on two of its popular models: the Rebel XSi kit with a $200 rebate and the EOS 50D kit with $300 back to you. Those both come with stock lenses. Instant rebates are in effect until July 11. For a complete list of rebates on camera bodies and lenses, CNET has a complete list.

Nikon hasn't quite stepped up the rebate competition yet, although Adorama has posted a number of rebates from low-end Coolpix models up to SLR. The Nikon D40 kit with two lenses, for example, comes with a rebate for $150. Adorama also has some steal rebates for Sony digital SLRs, including a $400 instant rebate on the Alpha DSLR-A900 kit.

While the other major digital SLR manufacturers haven't copied Canon's rebate blitz yet, hopefully their sales will incite Nikon and others to follow suit - soon.
