LG is trying extra hard to get its smartphones for the Windows Phone 7 platform to stand out a wee bit more by serving up some free mobile apps to buyers.

In partnership with Microsoft, the two companies have put together a revolving portfolio of free applications for LG WP7 devices. (In case you've forgotten, the devices hitting the marketplace this year are the LG Optimus 7Q abroad and the LG Quantum stateside.)

Ten free "quality" applications valued at more than $30 will be given away every 60 days. Within that time period, LG WP7 customers can download the programs at their leisure from the LG Application Store.

The program launches this month (as do the aforementioned LG smartphones). Some of the first apps up for grabs include a voice-to-text app, a workout tracker and some kind of guitar shaking app.
