The Liberty Alliance Project appointed a new president and added 26 new members on Tuesday.
Michael Barrett, vice president of Internet strategy for American Express, has been appointed president of the Liberty Alliance, an effort created by Sun Microsystems to create a universal online identity system. Barrett earlier this month was appointed interim president of the group when United Airlines chief technology officer Eric Dean stepped down. The consortium also announced Tuesday that it has signed on 26 new members, including Discover Card, Merck & Co., Nationwide and Wells Fargo. --Wylie Wong, Special to ZDNet News
