Microsoft and storage vendor CommVaultSystems Inc. on Wednesday extended an existing strategic alliance between the two companies. Microsoft (msft) invested an undisclosed amount in CommVault -- a vendor of network-attached storage and storage-area network products for Windows 2000 and Unix -- and can tout CommVault's Galaxy product as a way to store and manage data across heterogenous platforms from a central Windows platform. -- Mary Jo Foley, ZDNet News
