MP3.com, in its new incarnation as a subsidiary of Vivendi Universal, has opened a set of European music sites designed to raise its presence overseas. The sites, focused for now on the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Spain, will largely carry music from unsigned artists, as has the original MP3.com.

MP3.com Europe will operate the sites separately from its sibling in the United States, with a separate management team in London. The company plans to open additional country-specific sites next year. --John Borland, Special to ZDNet News
