MS Webcasts push plans

Microsoft is turning up the heat on Netscape's push technology plans for the Web, announcing US content partners today at a special conference dedicated to what it calls "Webcasting".

Big Green said Dow Jones, Forbes, Fortune, PointCast, Reed Elsevier and the Wall Street Journal will be among content providers when Internet Explorer 4.0 launches later this year. The publishers will all provide pushed Dynamic HTML content to what Microsoft calls Active Channels on PCs.

UK-specific content providers are currently being sought.
