Net laws set to combat 'Web crime'

Beijing has stepped up the war against "Web crime" by drafting a set of newInternet laws and ordering the state propaganda machinery to carry out anideological campaign on the Net. Justifying the need to draft the laws,officials said cyber crimes had surged drastically in recent months: therewere 1,000 cases of Internet related crime in the first six months of thisyear alone, equal to the total for last year.
