A company that wants to create a set of Web addresses that uses only digits was among the first to apply Monday for the rights to new Internet top level domains (TLDs) to be created by the International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. Group One Registry said its .one TLD would give devices without complete keyboards, such as personal digital assistants, access to the Web. Addresses without letters also would enable coming generations of smart devices to talk with each other. Other applications expected Monday include .kids, a TLD that would be used to create a kid-safe space on the Web. Full story to follow. -- Ben Charny, ZDNet News
