New worm keeps changing its name

A nasty new virus that is smart enough to evade anti-virus software by continuously changing its name is on the loose. Anti-virus firm Trend Micro said the bug — called "NEWLOVE," but unrelated to the recent ILOVEYOU virus — has hit one U.

A nasty new virus that is smart enough to evade anti-virus software by continuously changing its name is on the loose. Anti-virus firm Trend Micro said the bug — called "NEWLOVE," but unrelated to the recent ILOVEYOU virus — has hit one U.S. firm, attacking 5,000 machines. NEWLOVE carries a much more dangerous payload than ILOVEYOU: it will delete all files on the victim's machine and all files on any network drives connected to that machine.
