News to know: The U.S. is now interested in allegations of bribery against HP, Apple is rumored to be in close talks with AMD and more leaks around Streak, Dell's answer to the iPad, surface.

Here's the recap and look ahead for Monday April 19, 2010.

Allegations that HP paid bribes to win contracts has extended beyond Russia and Germany. HP told CNET late last week that it has been contacted by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and "will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities investigating this matter."

Is Apple getting chummy with AMD - and possibly looking to put its chips from the No. 2 chipmaker into future Mac products? That's the rumor swirling around. Sound crazy? Not so fast. Maybe AMD can provide the graphics capability Apple is looking for.

Leaked images of Dell's answer to the iPad, called the Streak, have surfaced and it appears that a 7-inch tablet, due out later this year, and a 10-inch tablet slated for release early in 2011, will join a 5-inch model previously revealed.

Just ahead of Apple's earnings call this week, Gartner's PC share survey reports that Apple’s share of the U.S. market for computers grew 34 percent year over year with an estimated 1.4 million Macs sold. That would give Apple eight percent of the total domestic market for PCs.

As it appears to be the beginning of the end for Palm, not only has the company lost a key executive but it also has launched a retention plan that would keep key execs in place for at least two more years.

With Chrome OS slated for its debut later this year, HP and Google are putting printers drivers into the history books. As the builder for the OS, Google would store the drivers for you.
