Newspaper advertising rose 4.2% to $13.7 bln during Q4 2004, according to Newspaper Association of America. Classified ads led the way with a 5.2% increase to $5.1 bln. National ad spending increased 3.6% to $2.2 bln and retail spending rose 3.7% to $6.5 bln.
