Not just hot air: Global wind power capacity up almost 30 percent

Wow, what other industry can claim to have grown almost 30 percent last year (if not in revenue, at least in production capacity)?
This blog over at Green Forum reports the amazing growth in global wind energy capacity in 2008, including an almost 50 percent increase in the United States alone.
Hmmm. Maybe I should be looking at reallocating my individual electricity consumption / purchases into what's being generated by wind turbines. I just got a letter from my local power company literally yesterday saying they are raising my rates because of my solar power exposure and rising related costs. Maybe wind is a better idea in New Jersey? Certainly, at least lately, it's been a more reliable resource than the sun.
Anyway, some perspective if your company is looking to reallocate some of its own energy purchases. Let's just hope these things aren't abandoned and underutilized.
