Olympic organizers sue 1,800 Web sites

Some 1,800 Web sites have been named in a lawsuit by Olympic organizers for misusing the Olympic name. A press release issued by the International Olympic Committee, the U.S. Olympic Committee and the Salt Lake Organizing Committee said they are going after sites with names including Olympic or Olympiad in their domain names. "These cybersquatters are out there using Olympic properties for their own benefit with no return to the Olympic movement," said IOC Vice President Richard W. Pound. -- ZDNet staff
