Mike Devlin, who co-founded Rational Software in 1981 and 21 years later helped sell it to IBM, will retire from the company later this spring. He will be replaced by Danny Sabbah, who will be general manager of Rational.

A company spokesperson on Monday said that Devlin is stepping down to retire and will stay on for the coming weeks to aid the transition. Sabbah's former positions were vice president of IBM's software group strategy and chief technology officer. Also, Lee Nackhman, who had been chief technology officer of Rational, has replaced Hugh Scandrett as vice president of product development.
