Ready for WebcamMD?
While medical tourism is, according to NPR, a large and growing threat to U.S. medicine, there's no way those foreigners could start doing actual exams.
Is there?
There is. WebcamMD claims it can deliver a full medical examination through a properly-equipped computer connection.
The Toronto-based company released its first press release today, and promises a full presentation on December 6. Its founder is Rob Tayler, best known for Sexynewyou, a weight loss channel.
The chief medical officer is Dr. Agostino Cervone (above), who works at the Peconic Surgical Group on Long Island, who is listed as both a general and laparoscopic surgeon.
These must still be considered early days in this area, but if you can perform a routine exam for someone in Newfoundland from, say Toronto, why couldn't you also perform a routine exam for someone in Atlanta from, say, New Delhi?
