Linux distributor Red Hat has bulked up its open-source enterprise server offering by adding support for another open-source e-mail product.

Open-source collaboration toolset Open-Xchange Server 5, which until now was available only on Novell's Suse Linux Enterprise Server, is now supported on Red Hat Enterprise Server 4, the company announced on Friday.

Red Hat already offers a number of open-source e-mail products with its enterprise version of Linux, including the Cyrus e-mail server and the SpamAssassin spam filter.

Open-Xchange Server offers additional features including calendaring, contacts and a connector to the Microsoft Outlook e-mail client, allowing companies to migrate from Microsoft Exchange to Open-Xchange without needing to change their e-mail client.

Netline, the company behind the Open-Xchange Server, said in April that it plans to provide commercial support for its product on Mac OS X and Solaris later this year.
