Austrian bidding for third generation mobile phone licences has ended on only the second day, with all six bidders obtaining two blocks of frequency at a combined total of E706m (£419m).

The money raised from the auction exceeded the government's minimum pricing by E100m (£60m). Winning telcos include Tele Danmark's Connect Austria, Deutche Telekom, Hong Kong's Hutchison Whampoa, Spain's Telefonica, Telecom Italia, Telekom Austria, and Vodafone's tele.ring.
