The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Committee has apologised to members after a mass email letter identified the names and addresses of hundreds of recipients.

SYDNEY (ZDNet Australia)--The problem was first noticed after the committee sent out a reminder email this morning to members, urging them to renew their membership.

Their names and email details, normally suppressed for privacy reasons, were displayed in the address line.

Within an hour, the committee sent out an apology.

"It has been brought to our attention that in an email sent out this morning 2/5/01, the recipient list had not been suppressed. This is a technical error on out part and we sincerely apologise for this error and any inconvenience this may have caused.

"Please be advised that we regret this incident and will ensure that this does not happen again."
