T-Mobile announces myTouch 3G Fender Limited Edition with music focus

T-Mobile loves Android and today they announced the upcoming availability of the rumored myTouch 3G Fender Limited Edition. I have seen this device and it looks awesome. It is a myTouch 3G (see my review) with a slick Fender guitar sunburst designed back, standard 3.5mm headset jack, and included 16GB microSD card. This version runs Android 1.6, but T-Mobile stated in the press release that it would be updated to Android 2.1 this spring so you will get Google Maps Navigation and all the other great goodies in 2.1 in this phone soon too.

T-Mobile loves Android and today they announced the upcoming availability of the rumored myTouch 3G Fender Limited Edition. I have seen this device and it looks awesome. It is a myTouch 3G (see my review) with a slick Fender guitar sunburst designed casing, standard 3.5mm headset jack, and included 16GB microSD card. This version runs Android 1.6, but T-Mobile stated in the press release that it would be updated to Android 2.1 this spring so you will get Google Maps Navigation and all the other great goodies in 2.1 in this phone soon too.

In addition to the minor hardware change (3.5mm headset jack and new color scheme) T-Mobile and HTC are providing lots of content and utilities to make the experience better. You will find preloaded Eric Clapton songs such as Layla, Rock 'N' Roll Heart, and Wonderful Tonight along with music from Avril Lavigne, Brad Paisley and Wyclef Jean. An installer for doubleTwist will be included on the device so that you can easily sync your music, images, and videos to & from your computer. There will also be a new music player, developed by HTC, that offers an intuitive user interface that allows for toggling between different views or for changing a song or album by simply touching the album art. It also allows customers to create ringtones from songs that are playing. New accessories including new Fender-branded shells, a Fender carrying case and Fender screen protector as well as Rock Dock with Speakerphone will also be available.

The T-Mobile myTouch 3G Fender Limited Edition is expected to be available starting January 20 nationwide at select T-Mobile retail stores and online at www.T-MobilemyTouch.com, while quantities last. I understand that the Limited Edition label is real and there will only be a limited supply of this device available for people to purchase. The device will cost $179.99 (plus taxes and fees) with a new two-year service agreement and qualifying voice and data plan.

I just bought my Google Nexus One to use with T-Mobile so I will skip this model myself, but it does look like a very nice Android handset.
