T-Mobile begins LTE OTA update for Samsung Galaxy Note II

Regular readers know that I am a huge fan of the Samsung Galaxy Note II and even awarded it my top pick in my early 2013 smartphone lineup. One of the reasons I love the Note II is that it has everything inside, including the ability for future networks, and today, T-Mobile announced that they are rolling out a software update to enable LTE support.

T-Mobile is the last to launch LTE, but they are making things happen rather quickly, and I love that they are able to update existing handsets to support their newest network technology. We already know that their upcoming BlackBerry Z10 and HTC One will also both support LTE since that network is advertised on their launch pages.

T-Mobile hasn't launched their LTE network across the country yet, but there are some areas where it is available. I'll be updating my Note II tonight to check if Seattle has LTE, and I have to believe it will be getting it earlier than other places given that their headquarters is here. Plus, we also saw their 42 Mbps HSPA+ network launch early here in the Seattle area.

I've been very pleased with their HSPA+ data speeds, and am not sure I need LTE on all the time, but it's great to have a super fast network connection. T-Mobile stated that LTE is available in Las Vegas and Kansas City, and there are reports of people finding it in New York City as well. They promise that over 200 million people will have access to their LTE network by the end of 2013.
