As expected, Microsoft is going to peel back the covers and demo its Live Mesh service at the Web 2.0 Expo the week of April 21.

Live Mesh, which is expected to built on top of the Microsoft Synchronization Framework, is one of Chief Software Architect Ray Ozzie's pet projects.

Microsoft is planning to demo Live Mesh in its booth at the show in San Francisco. In addition, I am still hearing that a select group of external testers will get to start messing around with Live Mesh around that time, as part of a first test program.

It's interesting what Microsoft is labeling as a "Windows Live" service vs. a plain-old Live service (vs. an "Online" service) these days. Mesh, like Live Search, falls into the "no Windows prefix" camp.
