Tidal mystery

The East Coast of the U.S. is living through an unsolved mystery. Why are the tides running higher than normal? Scientists are puzzled and trying to sort through data and theories. They find no relationship to climate change. So wassup? Tidal energy converted to electricity has been one of the areas of greentech with some promise and intense interest in coastal areas of Europe and America. So it would be good to understand what's going on here if we hope for some minimal predictability in harnessing wave and tidal energy.
