Toysrus.com confirms outage

Toysrus.com confirmed that it was offline for several hours on Sunday. The company blamed the outage on a "1000 percent" increase in traffic over the prior week, which it said came from a recent catalog mailing. It had quadrupled its servers in anticipation of a spike, but still could not handle the traffic. Toysrus.com CEO John Barbour apologized for the outage, and said the site will triple its servers again by the end of the week. - Joe Belden, ZDNN
