Stuck in yet another traffic jam, or infuriated by continual delays at the airport? One organization, Building America's Future, wants you to cut out the middle man and vent your frustration directly at your U.S. Representative or Senator.
A free app released by the group, 'I'm Stuck,' lets users fire off a pre-written complaint through their smartphone or tablet. Users can edit the message, attach images and save complaints for later. The app is preloaded with U.S. representative contact details based on your location, as well as report options including traffic jams, metro and bus delays, train problems and overcrowding.
In the hope that daily complaints will make government officials take note of ageing infrastructure and policies which cause U.S. citizens delays, the app creators say that the software "empowers citizens" in order to tell Congress "it is time to reinvest in America."
Governor Rendell, Co-Chair of Building America's Future said:
"Usually commuters think traffic is like weather -- it is something that happens to them and they have no control over it. But that isn't the case at all. The policies we put in place, or the lack of a coherent long-term infrastructure plan, directly impacts the daily experience of Americans trying to get around their communities."
In the few weeks since the app's release, it has been downloaded almost 10,000 times, sending out 1,700 letters to officials in 37 states. The app is available on Android and Apple iOS.
