The European Union is working to get a ubiquitous cell phone charger. That would liminate constant throw-away chargers every time the customer gets the latest model phone. The phone makers have apparently agreed to move toward a standard re-charger that would work on all new cell phones. Now, how about including Palm, Apple, RIM, etc.? And can we maybe get the cell phone folks in America to play allong with this? How much profit can there be in marketing distinct chargers? The one charger fits-all concept will make it easier for solar-powered units to penetrate the market as well.
