A pat on the back for government web designers

The government has been recognised for the design of its UK Online site with an award from the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB). UKonline.gov.uk will now carry the 'See it Right' logo, demonstrating its suitability for partially sighted visitors. E-envoy Andrew Pinder said in a statement: "New technology has the potential to revolutionise the lives of blind and partially sighted people, so it is important that websites are designed with their needs in mind... It sets an example that I hope other major public bodies and private companies will decide to follow." It's one of only four sites in the UK to hold such an award and the only government site. The other three are the Royal Mail, Standard Life and Tesco.
