The technology, called slanted packaging mounting, uses thin Tape Carrier Package Flash components laid out in an angle instead of stacked. This allows 40 TCP-packaged 64M-bit components to be fit on a single PCMCIA card, quadrupling the memory densities of Hitachi's Flash cards, officials said.
Hitachi expects handheld PCs, digital cameras and industrial manufacturing equipment to be the primary devices that use the 300MB Flash cards.
