Good reading: Phil Windley has written up and photographed a recent talk given by Vint Cerf on challenges facing the Internet and computer science. Cerf should know as he is the co-designer of the TCP/IP protocols and the architecture of the Internet,. He also currently serves as chairman of the board of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).  My favorite byte from Phil's posting on Cerf's talk: "We know almost nothing about making programming more efficient and systems more secure and scalable." Among the big challenges are identity theft, personal privacy, search algorithms, semantic networks, database sharing, IPv6 deployment, allocation policy development, DNS refactoring and provisioning.
