From the Blickensderfer Portable Typewriter to the Apple Tablet Prototype and every Dyson G-Force Vacuum and Polaroid Land Camera in between, the temporary Gizmodo gallery installation at the Reed Annex in New York was the place to see vintage gadget milestones alongside the newest technology of today.

I took a trip by foot and brought my camera along to document the temporary installation. Check it out:

The gallery was small but fun, but I didn't quite see the reasoning behind some of the selections. Landmark gadgets like a portable typewriter and an Apple tablet, sure -- but what about the random phones and toys that were merely "pretty"?  Were these products landmarks of design, or utility? (In which case, where's the iPod prototype? And what about that NES bong, eh?)

Either way, it was a fun stop, and it's free to the public for four days starting today (Dec. 4-7; 151 Orchard St.). They ask you for a donation for Toys for Tots as moral compensation, and it's worth stopping by if you're in the area.
