Wipro Infotech, a Wipro division, has set up an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) and Portal practice to serve customers in India, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

Industry analyst Ovum estimates Asia Pacific would account for 12 percent of the global revenues for content management or $241 million by 2007. It also estimated that India and China would see a growth of more than 20 percent in ECM demand over the next few years.

"There is an increasing customer focus on ECM and portals as a high priority area in their IT strategy," Company Vice-President (International Operations) Rajat Mathur said in a company release.

Wipro said the use of ECM solutions has evolved and now companies implement them for more strategic benefits, such as helping them streamline processes, meet regulatory compliance requirements and enable uniform branding across their enterprises.
