World's smallest scanner on display

CeBIT Digital Living: The Docupen R700 scanner weighs no more than your average pen
Written by Dan Ilett, Contributor
Exhibitors at CeBIT were today showing off the "world's lightest scanner", as certified by the Guinness Book Of Records.

Canadian-based Planon Systems Solutions is selling the wireless Docupen R700 scanner, which at under 60g is about the weight of a pen. It can scan entire A4 pages at a time at resolutions of either 100dpi or 200dpi in about four seconds.

The scanner charges every time it is connected to a PC.

The packaged software, ScanSoft's PaperPort, can transfer scanned text into editable formats.

It will cost around €170 (£118).
