in brief Yahoo! and Seven Network's joint venture Yahoo!7 has announced the purchase of totaltravel.com to bolster its involvement in the online travel market.

Yahoo!7 planned to combine its existing travel site with totaltravel.com's listings data. Totaltravel.com has 167,000 listings across travel categories such as accommodation, restaurants, events, shops and attractions. Travellers research their trips on the site and use it to deal directly with travel suppliers.

"It's a great time to invest and we're confident that following the acquisition we will quickly move to the number one audience position in the online travel sites in Australia," Yahoo!7 CEO Rohan Lund said in a statement. "Our technology platform, combined with the Seven Network stable of TV and magazines travel content and now the power of the totaltravel.com listings is a winning combination for users and advertisers alike."

A spokesperson for Yahoo!7 declined to comment on the value of the deal.
