JBL has brought a pair of new iPhone/iPod speaker docks to the marketplace, and the On Stage IV and On Stage Micro III certainly don't look like anything we've seen before.

Both JBL On Stage speaker units are compact and portable, and they include IR remotes in the box for controlling the devices from up to 15 feet away. JBL attests that each On Stage speaker dock is compatible with "most docking iPod and iPhone devices" as they include the universal AppleiPod dock adapter. Along with charging and audio playback, the On Stage docks allow for syncing with iTunes via USB.

Powered by either an AC adapter or a quartet of AAA batteries, the lower-end On State Micro III sports dual Odyssey transducers for clear sound and bass. Users should be able to squeeze out 24 hours of continuous play when using those batteries if you're planning a dance marathon or a very long party.

Then you have the option of the On Stage IV, which hosts four Odyssey transducers. This one also has two power options: an AC adapter or six AA batteries. Yet you'll only manage 16 hours of play out of these batteries. Peculiar.

The JBL On Stage IV and Micro III speaker docks are available now for $179.95 and $119.95 respectively.
