Litl developing Flash-based set-top box with touchscreen remote

Litl is debuting a simple yet pretty, little set-top box powered by the company's own operating system that will again try to get people interested in using their televisions for full-on web browsing.

The idea of using a regular TV to really surf the web never took off, with the most popularity reserved for streaming programs from particular channels or widgets for sites like Facebook and Flickr. Litl developers seem to concede to this, recognizing that browsing is different from the computer screen to a TV. Thus, it looks like Litl is working on developing a different web experience altogether, particularly for groups.

But there will definitely be room for custom-designed apps for the usual social networking crowd (Facebook, Flickr, Shutterfly, etc.) and others as Litl is also releasing the Flash-based SDK for developers this week at the Flash and the City conference.

Pricing and an actual product name hasn't been revealed yet, but it should become available in early 2011.
