It was originally thought that Samsung would be launching the Galaxy S in 110 countries simultaneously, but they've at least gotten underway with a major release across Europe. Those in the US can start looking forward to this smartphone as well as it is due to be released in America "later this year."

Asia is already poised to see the new Android 2.1-based device on shelves at some point this month, with a global roll out (including the US) planned before the end of 2010. Over 100 service providers around the world have already picked up the Galaxy S. Unfortunately, Samsung hasn't come clean with a roadmap of sorts yet, and it isn't known yet which mobile operator will offer it in the US either.

Boasting both a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen and a 1GHz CPU, the Galaxy S (a.k.a. GT-I9000) is set to be the flagship model in a whole new collection of Samsung smartphones.
