Intel dances with Check Point

Intel and Check Point Software Technologies today said they are working together to integrate Check Point's security software into Intel's Internet Exchange architecture.

The companies plan to provide underlying Internet security services with very high performance - gigabit-per-second speeds, according to the companies.

With the partnership signifying one of its biggest relationships with a networking hardware company, Check Point clearly aims to have its flagship firewall technology embedded into the next-generation network infrastructure. Check Point has existing systems delivery partnerships with other networking hardware vendors, including Nokia, with which Check Point has jointly developed virtual private network appliances.

For Intel, the partnership with Check Point adds a solid security component to its strategy of providing a full suite of Internet technologies to companies that are building networking equipment and devices. In a similar deal, Intel last month announced that it is working with Nortel Networks to incorporate pieces of Nortel's Open IP Environment into Intel's Internet Exchange architecture.
