Garmin nüvi 350
Garmin, a well-established vendor of personal navigation equipment, has added the nüvi 350 and 300 to its stable. The primary purpose of these devices is navigation, but Garmin has added a range of extra features that we’ve not seen before in a standalone device. We reviewed the more expensive nüvi 350 (£540.57 ex. VAT), which comes with 700MB of internal storage and maps for the whole of Europe. If this is beyond your budget or requirements, consider the £324.34 (ex. VAT) nüvi 300, which shares the core navigation capability but comes with maps for one of eight European regions and just 200MB of internal memory.

BenQ P50
There is commonly a hiatus between a product being announced and it becoming available to buy. However, rarely is the gap quite as long as it has been with BenQ's P50, a quad-band Windows Mobile smartphone. First seen at the 2004 CeBIT show, launch announcements followed from BenQ in January 2005 and then again in May. It finally went on sale in the UK a few weeks ago. Although BenQ Mobile (the company formed when BenQ bought Siemens' mobile business) has now announced the Windows Mobile 5-based BenQ-Siemens P51, this is not due to ship until July. The BenQ P50 is available from Expansys for £329.95 (inc. VAT; £280.81 ex. VAT).

Samsung M70
Hardware manufacturers like to claim ‘firsts’ for their products. Sometimes this involves little more than a few millimetres shaved off here, or a few megahertz boosted there. But with the M70, Samsung has come up with a truly intriguing 'first': a desktop replacement notebook with a 19in. screen that's detachable and comes with its own stand.

ViaMichelin Navigation X-930
The Navigation X-930 from ViaMichelin is the company’s first standalone navigation device. With a long history in providing travel and tourist information in book form, and more recently of developing electronic resources including online driving directions and the ViaMichelin Navigation software for handhelds, the key challenge here would seem to have been getting the hardware right.

BlackBerry 8700g
Research in Motion (RIM), the company behind the popular BlackBerry smartphone, has recently been in the news for all the wrong reasons -- a court case in the US which threatened to shut down its mobile email service. Despite its legal worries, RIM has not taken its eye off of product development, and the latest BlackBerry available in the UK, the 8700g, offers a range of improvements over its predecessors. It's available from O2 and T-Mobile on various tariffs, for both individual and corporate users. Our review unit came from T-Mobile, and costs between zero and £150, depending on the tariff.

Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook E8110
Fujitsu Siemens has been relatively quick off the mark with a notebook based around Intel’s dual core Centrino Duo (Napa) mobile computing platform. Slotting into its desktop replacement E Series line, the LifeBook E8110 is an excellent performer with a flexible modular bay and decent battery life.
